INGREDIENT #1 – Berberine
Two studies were covered in one of the 2008 research reports. In the first study 36 patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomly selected for treatment with this natural ingredient. The results were mind-blowing. At the end of three months, average fasting blood sugars in the Berberine group dropped from 191 to 124 – an average drop of 67 units! Average post-meal readings dropped from 356 to 199 (-157) and the A1c, which measures longer-term blood sugar control, fell from 9.5 to 7.5 (-2.0). Fasting triglycerides dropped from an average of 99 to 78 mg/dl (-21). In addition, insulin resistance crashed by 45%!
In the second study, the results were similar. This time 48 adults who already had Type 2 Diabetes, but their medication and/or insulin wasn’t able to control it, underwent the study. After just 7 days, Berberine led to an average reduction in fasting blood sugar from 172 to 140, and in week two, to 135. A1c decreased from 8.1 to 7.3 and insulin resistance was reduced by 45%. Other studies have been able to duplicate the results and the results are conclusive.
INGREDIENT #2 – Guava Leaf
Guava Leaf has been commonly used in a tea form in traditional Chinese medicine. In China, it is commonly known that, when drinking this tea, your glycemic peak is reduced. Only recently has the scientific community started to pay attention.
This study http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2831039/ suggests that Guava Leaf Extract clearly reduces the post-meal glycemic peak. The post-meal blood glucose levels were lower after 60 and 120 minutes among participants that took this ingredient compared to the control group. The blood glucose levels also returned faster to the level at which they were before the meal. Kelowna’s research team continues to monitor new science regarding this ingredient. It appears that it is extremely helpful in improving insulin resistance and glucose metabolism.
INGREDIENT #3 – N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)
There is growing interest in the beneficial effects in this glutathione precursor it has against the early stages of type-2 diabetes development. According to scientists who read through 100 studies, this ingredient has anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties which can have positive effects during the inflammatory process of insulin resistance. It can also modulate certain signaling pathways in both insulin target cells and beta cells. At this point, the science behind this ingredient does not suggest you could treat diabetes with this NAC alone, but points out that it could be used in connection with other treatments, i.e. as an adjuvant. INGREDIENT #4 – Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
Sixty obese Type 2 Diabetes patients with coronary heart disease were divided into two groups. Group A received this ingredient for eight weeks, while group B received a placebo. While there were no significant changes in fasting glucose levels, there was a significant reduction in serum insulin levels and homeostasis model of assessment-insulin resistance and beta cell function. In addition, patients who were in group A significantly increased their total antioxidant capacity concentration. Source:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26385228
INGREDIENT #5 – Cordyceps Medicinal Mushroom
This medicinal mushroom ingredient works synergistically to prevent diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease). Please do not take Marathol if you are allergic to mushrooms. Source:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23719521
INGREDIENT #6 –Resveratrol
Recent studies suggest that resveratrol may lower LDL-cholesterol, oxidized LDL-cholesterol and apolipoprotein-B, when combined with grade seed extract. In other trials, resveratrol supplementation can reduce C-Reactive Protein – one of the better predictors of a heart attack.
Please note that many of these studies entailed taking the ingredient for three to six months.
This is why we hope that you accept your 100 day challenge!
